The Financial Advisory Team at Teneo

 

Teneo’s global Financial Advisory business advises corporates, creditors and other financial stakeholders in situations of financial stress and distress. Integrating the disciplines of restructuring, financial advisory, management consulting, investor relations, strategic communications, government affairs, risk analysis and talent advisory, Teneo’s global team guides companies and their stakeholders through periods of uncertainty and stress. The Role

 

The Finance Manager will be based in London, reporting to a local Financial Controller. This role primarily supports the Germany business and will extend to other European entities. Key responsibilities include delivering accurate and timely management reporting for Teneo’s Global Financial Advisory business, managing Accounts Receivable and Payable across all entities and working closely with external accountants and tax advisors. The Finance Manager will also collaborate with senior finance leadership and other internal finance teams to ensure efficiency and compliance.

 

Responsibilities

 

Financial Accounting

  • Act as the primary finance interface, providing accurate financial information to the Senior Management Team, Global Financial Advisory CFO, and global stakeholders in line with monthly reporting timelines.
  • Manage the month-end close process, ensuring compliance and liaising with external accountants and tax advisors for Germany and other European subsidiaries.
  • Oversee monthly revenue recognition, ensuring timely accruals and accurate forecasting aligned with Global FA business expectations.
  • Support and review intercompany reconciliations, ensuring accurate recording of transactions across all Teneo entities.
  • Prepare and analyse Debtor and Unbilled AR reports for Managing Directors and Controllers.
  • Ensure accuracy of P&Ls during month-end reporting, highlighting risks and communicating issues to the Global CFO, Controllers and senior leadership.
  • Review and approve monthly balance sheet reconciliations and control accounts.
  • Report final local financials in line with month-end timelines.
  • Assist with forecasts, budgets, and cash flow planning.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns.
  • Manage the monthly payroll process for Germany, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution.
  • Resolve finance queries from senior leadership and wider Teneo finance teams.
  • Drive adoption of best practices across the business.
  • Support audit processes for Global FA and manage timelines.
  • Ensure compliance with local statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as the main banking interface, overseeing account management, payment approvals, and expense runs.

Team Management

  • Lead and support finance functions (Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Management Accounts) alongside Controllers, providing mentorship, training, and performance development.
  • Promote continuous improvement in financial control knowledge across the team.
  • Monitor daily and monthly tasks, providing training where needed and ensuring adherence to processes.
  • Maintain accuracy of all accounting systems and ledgers.

 

Basic Requirements

  • Fluent in German (written and spoken).
  • Strong understanding of German regulatory and statutory requirements.
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent).
  • Solid understanding of finance functions with experience as a Management Accountant.
  • Proven ability to deliver accurate, timely reports and data with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Deep understanding that quality and accuracy underpin strong financial reporting.
  • Keeps up to date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and makes timely decisions based on a clear understanding of risks, costs, and benefits.
  • Skilled in delegating both routine and critical tasks effectively.
  • Highly proactive with strong initiative and ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills; identifies issues and resolves them promptly.
  • Excellent workload management and prioritization for self and team.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience reporting to senior leadership.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with colleagues, clients, and external advisors.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively across all levels.
  • Calm, resilient, and adaptable under pressure.

 

 

Preferred Requirements

 

  • Confident negotiator with strong interpersonal skills for internal and external stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience with NetSuite accounting software.
  • Proactive in identifying and implementing initiatives to improve financial systems and processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
